Happy (belated) Birthday to John!

Its been almost a month since John turned 5, but I haven't posted any pictures!  What can I say, life happens :)  This is the first year John has had a real birthday party - one where he invites friends and has a big bash.  Usually we do a fun event and a family party (the last few years we've taken him to the local indoor water park).  This year we told him he could have a party and he requested Pump It Up for the location.  We were more than happy to oblige.  The kids love to play on all the inflatables, its minimal planning and prep for us (although I do love to plan parties), and not a lot of structured activities for the 20+ preschoolers who just want to run and jump and play anyway!  It was a great success and John (and all his friends) had a blast.



The thing John was most looking forward to was being able to sit in the big inflatable throne while opening presents.  Its the little things :)



At school, they had a combined birthday party for all the September birthdays.  They all made a rainbow cake (they each got to pick which color they wanted to dye their cup of white cake batter, then they dumped it all together) and the birthday boys got to decorate it with sprinkles.

At home, we lit candles for him each time he had a piece of his birthday cake.  Will usually put all 5 candles together and John loved to watch it burn.  He even tried roasting a marshmallow over the flame once!
